The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's decision to suspend the state's popular rebate for electric cars marks a huge step backward for Oregon's climate change efforts and working families (' Oregon to suspend electric vehicle rebates as money runs out, ' March 15). The agency announced last week that it would temporarily halt the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, starting May 1. The decision will confuse and delay the critical transition to clean electric cars. About 40% of all carbon emissions in Oregon come from transportation.
